Cassowary Cafe is owned and run by Ron Game and his wife, Steph. It was an idea conceived from their passion for coffee, people and the environment – both the planet and its magnificent wildlife.
With retirement looming, Ron was looking to occupy his days and coffee roasting was his first stop. After 12 months of learning to roast and brew, he was ready to start a roastery but, instead, they decided to do more than just coffee beans and open a cafe together.
The vision for the cafe was a welcoming, inviting space for the whole community that serves up a wide range of dangerously good and ethically and sustainably sourced coffees – the best coffee in Belmont – alongside speciality teas and delicious, Instagrammable cafe menu items.
The name ‘Cassowary’ comes from Ron and Steph’s desire to protect this rare and ancient Aussie icon and its stunning and diverse habitat, the Daintree Rainforest. We actively promote, raise money and sell postcards for our friends at Rainforest Rescue.
