How much does it cost to join AU Classifieds?
Joining AU Classifieds is completely free. Anyone across Australia can create an account and start buying, selling, and posting ads at no cost.
How much does it cost to advertise on AU Classifieds?
Placing a standard advert on AU Classifieds is free in every category. You can also choose optional upgrades—such as featuring your listing on the home page or placing your ad above other listings—for a small additional fee.
How do I view my messages?
To check your messages, simply log in by clicking the My Account button at the top right of the site. All enquiries and replies to your ads will appear in your account message centre.
Who will see my classified ad?
Your advert can be viewed by anyone browsing AU Classifieds as well as users who find your listing through major search engines. Our platform is fully optimised for online visibility, giving your ads strong exposure across Australia.
Will I receive lots of spam?
No. AU Classifieds uses a private messaging system, so your real email address is never shown publicly unless you choose to include it in your advert. You can also block unwanted senders at any time.
What is Auto Notify?
Auto Notify is a free service that alerts you instantly when new ads are posted that match your saved search criteria. Just click the Save Search link at the top of any results page to activate notifications.
How do I know if a reply to my ad is fraudulent?
We encourage users to stay cautious. For the latest scam alerts, visit the Australian Government’s official resource at ScamWatch. You can also read the ACCC’s free guide, The Little Book of Scams, for extra protection and advice.
What ads are NOT allowed on AU Classifieds?
Please review our full terms and conditions for a complete list. The following categories of ads are not permitted:
- Adult content, adult videos, or links to explicit material
- Endangered species or items prohibited under the Australian CITES list
- Restricted dog breeds including Pit Bull Terriers, Bandogs, Tosas, and other dangerous breeds
- Second-hand underwear
- Prescription medications, illegal substances, or tobacco products
- Spell casting, black magic services, or similar offerings
- Pirated, illegal, or counterfeit software (“silver/gold discs”)
- Weapons such as knives or firearms (air rifles .22 calibre or below may be allowed depending on state laws)
